Independent, low-cost licensing model

What is Hackingtons Licensing?

Hackingtons licensing is for people who want to run their own independent business while teaching world-class coding and engineering to kids—without reinventing the curriculum, branding, or systems from scratch.

Unlike a traditional franchise, our licensing model is:

  • Lighter-weight: simpler agreements and fewer restrictions
  • More flexible: you own and operate your own local entity
  • More affordable: designed to be much less expensive than typical franchise fees

You get the credibility of an established brand and a proven belt-based curriculum, while keeping the freedom to build a program that fits your community and your budget.

Not a Franchise. On Purpose.

Traditional franchises can be expensive, rigid, and paperwork-heavy. Our goal with Hackingtons licensing is to stay focused on:

  • Independence: You keep control over your business entity and operations.
  • Simplicity: Clear brand standards and curriculum usage rules, without franchise-level complexity.
  • Affordability: A structure intentionally designed to be much cheaper than most franchise models.
  • Impact: A shared mission to help kids build real projects—not just pass worksheets.

Exact financial terms, territories, and requirements will be discussed with you directly before you commit.

Licensing FAQs

Hackingtons licensing is built for independence and affordability. It is not a franchise.

What We Provide

  • Permission to use the Hackingtons™ name in your local program
  • Access to curriculum and belt system for kids coding & engineering
  • Optional brand assets (logos, colors, templates)
  • Optional curriculum updates as new lessons are created

What We Do Not Provide (to stay non-franchise)

To avoid being classified as a franchise, Hackingtons does not:

  • Control your business operations or decision-making
  • Set your pricing, hours, or class schedules
  • Provide location selection or business coaching
  • Require specific equipment, classroom layouts, or software
  • Mandate business systems or operating procedures
  • Take royalties, revenue percentages, or profit shares

Your Business Stays Yours

As a Licensee, you:

  • Set your own pricing, policies, and schedules
  • Hire and train your own instructors
  • Choose your own location and classroom setup
  • Run your own marketing and local outreach
  • Operate under your own business entity and name (with Hackingtons as a licensed brand)

In short, Hackingtons licensing is structured to be lighter, more flexible, and far more affordable than a traditional franchise model, while still giving you access to a brand and curriculum that families can trust.

Do I need to be a professional programmer?

Not necessarily. Lean into your strengths and background. Many great operators are teachers, tutors, or parents who love working with kids. You’ll need basic computer comfort, a willingness to learn, and the ability to either teach or manage a small team of instructors.

What does the schedule typically look like?

Most Hackingtons locations run after-school and Saturday classes, with options for camps during school breaks. We’ll share sample schedules that have worked well in our existing locations.

Is my city or territory available?

Territories are granted on a non-exclusive basis and may overlap with nearby operators. The fastest way to find out what’s possible in your area is to submit an inquiry and tell us a bit about your city.

What are the financial requirements?

Because every market is different, we’ll discuss specific licensing fees and startup cost expectations directly with you. What we can say up front: the structure is intentionally designed to be much more affordable and flexible than a traditional franchise model.
