Blind Fold Typing — a free typing game for kids

A free typing game for children aged 8 to 10. Thirty levels teach touch typing one finger pair at a time, drilled through twelve different games. No account, no ads, and no sign-up.

How it works

Levels 1 to 5 cover the home row, starting with the F and J keys your index fingers rest on. Levels 6 to 14 add the top row, 15 to 21 the bottom row, and the last nine levels cover capitals, punctuation and whole sentences. Level 30 ends with a typing certificate.

Accuracy is what moves a student up a level — speed never is. Typing fast and sloppy is a habit that takes years to unlearn, so the game will not reward it. Once a student can spell, every prompt is a real word drawn from the words children read most often.

Progress without an account

Nothing personal is collected and there is nobody to sign up as. Progress is saved in the browser, and can also be written down as three words — like hammer-glider-lizard — which restores a game on any other device.

Made by Hackingtons, an after-school coding school for kids in California, running since 2014.
