Board Games to Video Games

Kids start by playing and dissecting board games to figure out what makes them fun. Then they go digital, recreating and remixing those games in Scratch. The week ends with a show-and-play where every camper demos their creation.

Art and Engineering camp
Engineering + Art

Art and Engineering

Equal parts art studio and science lab. Campers build bridges, towers, and structures, sometimes from blueprints and sometimes from their own imagination. Then they decorate them and put them to the ultimate test in end-of-week engineering challenges.

This isn't a worksheet camp.

We've been running coding and engineering programs for kids since 2014. Here's what we actually believe about how kids learn best.

🧑‍🏫

Real instructors

Not a video, not an app. Our instructors are in the room building alongside your kid, giving real feedback in real time.

👥

Small groups

Small groups mean instructors actually know your child's name and can meet them where they are, not where the curriculum assumes they are.

🛠️

Real projects

Kids leave each day with something they actually made: a game, a structure, something to show their family that night.

🚀

No experience needed

Beginners and experienced kids work side by side. Our instructors adapt to each camper's level. No one is left behind, no one is bored.

Where kids who love to build find their people.

Hackingtons has been running coding and engineering programs for kids since 2014. Our Rocklin location is at Stanford Ranch & Sunset Blvd and it's one of our most active locations.

During the school year we run weekly classes for ages 8–16. Summer camps are a way for younger kids (and kids who just want more) to get a full week of building in a row. Many summer campers go on to join our year-round program in the fall.

If your child comes home excited and wants to come back, that's the goal.

They didn't want to leave.

"Hackingtons brings people together over coding with funny and inspirational teachers. I found my people here."

— Celia, age 11 · Rocklin

"He loves it more than anything he's ever done. It's the one thing he looks forward to every single week."

— Cathleen · Hackingtons parent

"I've attended many coding programs, but only Hackingtons focused on building practical things for the real world."

Common questions.

Does my child need prior coding or engineering experience?

No experience needed. All skill levels are welcome. Campers range from total beginners to kids who code every day. Our instructors meet each child where they are.

What age is this camp for?

Our summer camps are designed for kids ages 7–11. If your child is older, check out our year-round classes for ages 8–16.

Where exactly is the Rocklin camp?

We're at 6011 Stanford Ranch Rd. Unit 102, Rocklin, CA 95765, at the corner of Stanford Ranch & Sunset Blvd, behind the Starbucks.

What does my child need to bring?

Just themselves. We supply all the materials. The $25 materials fee covers everything used during the week and is due on the first day of camp.

Can my child attend more than one camp?

Yes, each week is completely self-contained. Kids can do one, both, or come back summer after summer.

What's the refund policy?

Full refunds are available up to 3 weeks before the start of camp. Each camp also requires a minimum of 5 campers to run. If a session doesn't fill, you'll be notified and fully refunded.

Will there be more camps in July or August?

We're currently running June camps. If you'd like to be notified when additional sessions open, email us and we'll add you to the list.
