Rules:

  • Teams of 2 (Coder + Artist)
  • No Wifi during the competition.
  • Theme (Topic) will be announced at the start of the event.
  • Must use an offline code editor (ie Visual Studio Code, no Wifi)

I don't attend Hackingtons, can I compete?

Yes, non-students can join.

Which coding language?

Games must be built in pure-JavaScript using the official Hackingtons Canvas template. (To be released Feb 28th)

I'm a coder, how can I meet an artist?

We are going to play matchmaker for anyone who applies as a solo coder/artist.

How can I learn to build games in pure JavaScript?

Hackingtons will have an official lessons for JS game develompent (starting Feb 28th)

Do I have to have a partner? Can I compete solo?

No, a team must have both an artist and a coder.

Can a team have 3 people?

No.

How can I join the competition?

You must apply and then be selected to participate. (Not for beginners) More info to come.

When are the competitions?

3 times per year. July 2024, November 2024, & March 2025.

Where are the competitions?

In-person Pleasant Hill, Roseville, and Dublin CA.

What are the prizes?

Cash & trophies.

Is there an age minimum/maximum?

Both team members must be currently attending school (elementary, middle, or high school).
